How the $7,500 is split
The §30D credit is divided into two $3,750 components: one for battery component requirements (manufactured or assembled in North America) and one for critical mineral requirements (sourced from the US or free trade agreement countries). A vehicle must meet both requirements to receive the full $7,500.
Models qualifying for the full $7,500 in 2025
The following models have been confirmed eligible for the full $7,500 credit (subject to income and MSRP limits): Chevrolet Equinox EV, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Tesla Model 3 (Standard Range RWD, Long Range RWD), Tesla Model Y (RWD, Long Range RWD), Ford F-150 Lightning, Volkswagen ID.4 (assembled in Chattanooga, TN), Hyundai IONIQ 6 (assembled in Georgia), and Rivian R1T and R1S (subject to MSRP limits).
Models qualifying for $3,750
Some models meet only one of the two battery requirements and qualify for $3,750: Ford Mustang Mach-E, Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe.
Models that do not qualify
Vehicles assembled outside North America generally do not qualify, including most BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Kia, and Hyundai models (except those now assembled in the US). Tesla Model S and Model X exceed the $80,000 MSRP cap.
